Membership FAQ's
Where do my membership fees go?
At Adventure Cycling we use your membership fees for operations that allow us to do route research, produce maps, publish our member magazine, create and lead tours and training, and provide outreach to spread the word about the value of bicycling. In general, we work hard to inspire people to get out and ride their bikes.

What part of my membership is tax-deductible?
Adventure Cycling Association is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Each payment of individual or family membership dues, over $14 per year, is tax-deductible. For a Life membership, the whole amount minus $200 is tax-deductible in the year it was paid. All donations are tax-deductible.

Where can I find additional information on the association's nonprofit status?
Adventure Cycling Association is a 501(c)3 nonprofit membership association. You can find more information about our nonprofit and financial status at www.guidestar.org. Our IRS 990 form is also available through its website. Guidestar is an independent national database of nonprofit organizations.

How many issues of Adventure Cyclist are published each year, and when are they sent out?
We publish nine issues per year. Three double issues: July/August, September/October, and November/December and then six monthly issues for the months of  January, February, March, April, May, and June. Each issue is mailed in the month of the cover date.

What is the advantage of having a family membership?
Having a family membership entitles everyone in your immediate family (living at the same address) the ability to purchase maps at the discounted price and to join one of our organized tours.

Why do we send renewal notices so far in advance?
This is done to ensure continued service without interruption and is a convenience most of our members appreciate. The first renewal notice is sent out about three and a half months before the membership expiration date.

How can I join or renew?
You can join or renew online or via the phone with a credit card, or via regular mail by sending a check or money order. Our office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time, Monday through Friday.

Where is my membership number listed?
Your membership number consists of the letter Z or L and 6 numbers (Z123456). It is located on your membership card and in the upper left-hand corner of any correspondence from the organization, such as your magazine, Cyclosource, and tour catalog.

How do I give a gift membership to Adventure Cycling?

You can fill out our gift membership form. This will allow you to enter the gift recipient's information, your contact info (in case of any questions) and a gift message.

What if my Adventure Cyclist magazine arrives damaged?
Please contact us and we can have a new copy sent to you.

How can I make sure I continue to receive my magazine when I move?
Because our magazine is not forwarded by the post office, we need to hear about address changes at least four weeks prior to the cover date of the next issue. Update your member information to prevent an interruption in service.

How do I send you a phone, address, or email update or simply a suggestion?
To update your personal information in our system, use this form. To give us feedback, send a suggestion.
